A Little Bit About Me

Passionate About Energetics & Food

I'm Gillian, Your Instructor

I have been fascinated by the energetics of everything and how things work together for over 30 years. I remember watching a presentation about two medical models: Mechanistic (allopathic medicine) showed a person as pipes—if one leaked, you'd replace it without asking why. Naturalistic (natural medicine) showed a person as an ecosystem—if the sun was too hot and dried the soil, affecting plant growth, the solution was to address the sun, not just treat the dry soil or struggling plants.

This holistic approach resonated with me far more than the mechanistic system, which is when I found my field of passion—TCM & Acupuncture.

This is My Story.

I have been a Registered Acupuncturist in British Columbia since 2001 and an instructor of acupuncture for more than 15 years. After completing a 4-year Masters Program in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, I began my teaching career in Newfoundland, writing curriculum for a 3-year acupuncture program and serving as Program Director. I then moved to Halifax where I gained approval by the Board of Education in Nova Scotia for an acupuncture program, while also practicing at a successful multi-faceted alternative treatment centre.

In 2008 I went to Nepal to teach acupuncture and TCM modalities at a medical facility that still uses them today to treat locals from the Himalayan hills. For the last 15+ years, I have been pursuing the media side of acupuncture and natural healing through the creation of LIFT Education Academy and Pacific Rim College Online, creating popular courses including bootcamps that have become the national gold standard for TCM registration exam preparation.

My Approach

After working in multi-faceted treatment clinics for almost 20 years, the biggest issue I encountered was patients eating foods whose energetics didn't match their TCM pattern. The most common problem was patients with weak, cold digestive systems drinking cold smoothies first thing in the morning, then complaining of fatigue, coldness, loose stool, and paleness. Even though their food was high in nutrients, their digestive systems were too weak to absorb them. I've even removed all fruits and vegetables from some patients' diets for a week or two just to warm and strengthen their digestion before reintroducing a balanced approach—this can make a night and day difference!

My goal is to help as many people as possible understand their own TCM pattern so they can eat the correct food energetics for them, creating balanced health with excellent energy, sleep, and overall wellbeing.

Testimonials

Let Others Inspire You.

"Very high quality, I thought it was very nice and informative. The instructor, Gillian, was well-read and an excellent and engaging teacher. I could tell she is passionate about whole food healing! The list of foods on the temperature chart, the grocery store video guide, and the book recommendation at the beginning were some helpful tools, and the information on the flavours of food was also indispensable!"
