Meet Gillian
TCM educator focused on food energetics and human energy
My story
I have been studying how the body works as an interconnected system for over 30 years.
Early in my studies, I was introduced to two different models of health. My nursing studies viewed the body as separate mechanical parts. The other viewed it as an ecosystem where everything is connected.
The holistic model made immediate sense to me. It led me into Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, where I found a way of understanding health that matched what I had always felt to be true.
I have been a Registered Acupuncturist in British Columbia since 2001 and have been teaching TCM since 2005. My work has included curriculum development, program leadership, clinical practice, and international teaching, all focused on making TCM clear, practical, and usable in everyday life.
My Approach
In clinical practice, I repeatedly saw the same issue.
People would follow general ideas of healthy eating, but their food choices did not match their TCM constitution. A common example was someone with a weak or cold digestive system drinking cold smoothies because they were considered healthy.
Even when food was nutrient dense, their body struggled to process it properly.
When we adjusted food energetics to match the individual pattern, often the changes in energy and digestion were noticeable within days.
This shaped my teaching.
My focus is helping people understand their own TCM pattern so they can use food in a way that supports digestion, energy, sleep, and overall wellbeing.
This is what my courses are designed to teach:
how to recognize your body’s patterns and use food as support instead of confusion.

"Very high quality. The instructor, Gillian, was well-read and an excellent and engaging teacher. I could tell she is passionate about whole food healing! The list of foods on the temperature chart, the grocery store video guide, were helpful tools, and the information on the flavours of food was indispensable."
